Royce “Pinky” Bailey, 93, of Miami, passed away on November 2, 2025, in Amarillo.
Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Miami Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Reeves, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Roberts County Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
Royce was born on October 7, 1932, in Miami to Grady and Fannie Bailey. He grew up and graduated from school in Miami. After high school, he worked for his father before he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Royce served his country for four years before returning to Roberts County. During his service, Royce would marry Shirley Broaddus in 1952, and in this union, they had their three children and were to celebrate 73 years of marriage before his passing.
Royce “Pinky” was a long-time business owner in Miami. He owned and operated Bailey Grocery for over 44 plus years. During that time, Royce “Pinky” served countless customers and made many friends along the way. He was one of the most outgoing people you could ever meet. Royce “Pinky” never met a stranger and to know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harvey Bailey; and a sister-in-law, Shizuko “Shy” Bailey.
Royce is survived by his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Cindy; two sons, Steve, and Doug; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild; brother, Wiley Bailey and wife Barbara; several nieces, great nieces; two great-nephews; and other extended family.
