Royce E. Scheeeler, 88, of Ray, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his residence. He was born January 24, 1938, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Russell and Rita Wilbur Scheeler. Royce was married for 53 years to the late Donna Jean Gearing Scheeler, who passed away on May 11, 2024.
He retired from Mead Manufacturing Company after more than 40 years of service. Royce was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church in Chillicothe and along with his wife Donna, found their home church to be Antioch Kelley Church in Allensville. He had a lifelong love for model trains, especially the joy of setting them up each Christmas season, a tradition that brought wonder to those around him. He cherished his loyal dogs, Honey and Peyton, who were always by his side. Traveling was one of his greatest pleasures, with Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, and Amish Country holding special places in his heart. Whether tending to his garden or planning his next trip, he found happiness in the simple, peaceful moments of life. His warmth, hobbies, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Royce is survived by his stepson, Jeffrey Waldron; grandchildren, Bryan (Genia) Bledsoe, Brenna (Robbie) Crowe and Jennifer (Nick) Sparks; great grandchildren, McKenna (Bo) McIntire, Luke (Lacie Williams) Bledsoe, Shelby (Dakota) Williams, Jenna (Aidan Quigley) Crowe, Trinity (Easton) Canode, Breanna (Isaiah) Ousley, Aden Woodgeard, Joshua Woodgeard and Apollo Sparks; great great grandchildren, Oakley Canode and Hudson Williams; brother, Larry (Dorothy) Scheeler; sister, Janean (James) Doyle and nieces, Terry (Chuck) Cochran and Becky (Mike) Devore.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Debora Bledsoe and stepson, David Waldron.
A graveside service will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, Ohio, with Pastor Jason Kight officiating. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
