Ruben Nieves

Ruben Nieves, age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his home in Romeoville, IL, where he resided for the past 16 years. Formerly of Chicago, Ruben was born in Puerto Rico and proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran from 1972 to 1974.
Ruben is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Marina Lopez; his cherished daughter Millie (Wilbert) Rodriguez; his siblings Francisco Nieves, Robert (Nereida) Nieves, Martha Nieves, Carlos (Iris) Nieves, Elizabeth Nieves, and Carmen (Domingo) Gonzalez; his loving grandchildren Joel (McKenna) Nieves, Jaylene Rodriguez, Ashlyn Rodriguez, and Katelyn Rodriguez; and his great-grandchild Houston Nieves. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Patria Nieves; his sons Pedro R. Nieves, Javier Nieves, and Joel O. Nieves; and his brothers Pedrito and Julio Nieves.
Ruben will be remembered as a responsible, hardworking man who was steadfast in his love for his family. He was always there for his children - someone they could always count on. A doting grandfather, he took great joy in spoiling his grandchildren, and he loved making his nieces and nephews laugh.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W. Renwick Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544.
Family and friends are invited to meet (no procession) on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, for interment and military honors.
