Ruben Rivera

Ruben S. Rivera Sr., age 77, received his calling to be with the Lord on March 18, 2023. Ruben was born on November 2, 1945, in Weslaco, Texas to Roberto and Rita Rivera. Ruben and Ruby were married and spent 53 beautiful years together. They began their life together and welcomed their 3 children into the world; Ruben Jr., Renee, and Ronald.
He worked at Kelly and Lackland Air Force Base in Civil Service for over 30 years before retiring.
Ruben enjoyed working in his workshop and welding. He enjoyed taking his wife out dancing with friends. He was a Jack of all trades; you could always depend on him to give a helping hand. He loved going to estate sales and working on his classic truck named Chula.
Ruben was a beloved man that will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Ruben Jr. and his wife Jodi, daughter Renee and her husband Sean, and son Ronald. He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren Aidan Rivera, Taylor Loyd, Naomi Rivera, Katelyn Loyd, Emma Rivera, Marcus Rivera, Anthony Rivera, great grandchild Sofia Rivera, and brother Roberto Rivera and his wife Amalia, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Rita Rivera and sister Elena Gallardo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 30, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church (1314 Fair Ave #1, San Antonio, TX 78223). Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
