Ruben G. Roque-Pretel, of Highland Park, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick NJ. He was 58 years old. Born in San Martin de Porres, Peru, he lived in Lima Peru, and Venezuela before moving to the United States in 1994. He’s lived in Highland Park for the past 20 years.
Ruben had previously worked for Verizon Warehouse in Edison. He loved the beach, watching TV and cooking barbeque. He was a lot of fun, always listening to today’s Spanish music. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking around. He also was very generous to those in need.
Surviving is his wife Carmen Rosa Sotelo Silva and their beloved doggies Chico and Riley; his brothers and sisters in Peru, Oscar, Jose, Marlene and Georgina; his nephews John, Enrique, Javi, Leon and Leonardo; his nieces Janet, Jasmine and Rebecca; and his and Carmen’s loving “family” Carol Feliciano and her doggie Heidi.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 13th, 10:00 am at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 South 2nd Avenue, Highland Park. Entombment will take place at San Miguel Cemetery in Canta Peru. You may sign the online condolence “guestbook” at www.crabiel.com
Rubén G. Roque-Pretel, de Highland Park, falleció el viernes 7 de Noviembre de 2025 en el Hospital St. Peter's de New Brunswick, Nueva Jersey. Tenía 58 años. Nacido en San Martín de Porres, Perú, vivió en Lima, Perú, y Venezuela antes de mudarse a Estados Unidos en 1994. Residió en Highland Park durante los últimos 20 años.
Rubén había trabajado anteriormente en el almacén de Verizon en Edison. Le encantaba la playa, ver la televisión y preparar barbacoa. Era muy divertido y siempre escuchaba música en español. Tenía un gran sentido del humor y siempre estaba bromeando. También era muy generoso con quienes lo necesitaban.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Carmen Rosa Sotelo Silva, y sus queridos perros, Chico y Riley; sus hermanos y hermanas en Perú: Óscar, José, Marlene y Georgina; sus sobrinos John, Enrique, Javi, León y Leonardo; y sus sobrinas Janet, Jasmine y Rebecca. y su querida «familia» con Carmen: Carol Feliciano y su perrita Heidi.
El funeral se llevará a cabo el jueves 13 de noviembre a las 10:00 a. m. en la Iglesia Reformada de Highland Park, ubicada en 19-21 South 2nd Avenue, Highland Park.
