Ruby Lee Abrams, 95, died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at her home.
Born September 20, 1929, in Leo, SC, she was the daughter of the late John D. Prosser, and the late Mattie Lee Richardson Prosser. She was a devoted member of Sumter First Church of God for more than 50 years. She retired from K-Mart and took care of many children whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and always put their needs before her own. Mrs. Abrams was married to her late husband, Kenneth R. Abrams, Sr. for 48 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Abrams and Darlene Baird (Tab); one son, Kenneth "Kenny" R. Abrams, Jr.; four grandchildren, Lisa Lowder, Teresa Bush (Darrell), Trey Baird, and Jordan Baird; and two great grandchildren, Kaley and Cole Lackey.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah A. Lowder, and a granddaughter, Brittany B. Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Warren Matthews. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Abrams, Mark Whetstone, Herman Tyler, Derwin Prosser, Jordan Baird, and Jimmy Miles.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2441 Four Bridges Road.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses at SC House Calls and Prisma Health Hospice for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family c/o Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home 515 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
