Ruby Altman Obituary
Ruby Frye Altman, 91, widow of Jay Gold Altman, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 in the Carlyle Senior Care of Kingstree.
Mrs. Ruby was born in Turbeville, SC, a daughter of the late Charlie and Mamie Beard Frye. She was a homemaker and attended Little Star Free Will Baptist Church.
She was a former member of Little Bethel Free Will Baptist Church where she was best known for her piano playing and as the church pianist for over 60 years.
She enjoyed fishing, working outdoors with her flowers, but most of all she loved spending time with her friends and family especially the grands and great grands.
She is survived by her children, Jean (Jasper) McKenzie, Jakey Altman, and Jamie (Robin) Altman; grandchildren, Brent Prosser, Brooke (Matt) Creel, Drew Altman, Erin Altman, Tonya (Scott) Stone, and Danielle Mincey (Scot Stone).; great grandchildren, Hunter Elizabeth (Cameron) Lee, Savannah Mincey (Gabe Culick), Tate Mincey, and Cole Stone, Madison Creel and Emerson Creel; siblings, Stan (Nell) McKenzie and Cindy (Steve) Dudley.
She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Iris Altman; foster parents, Hayward and Travis McKenzie; brothers, Carlisle Frye, Odell Frye, Clarence Frye, and R. B. Frye and sisters, Carrie Mae Hudson, Mary Ellen Barr, Dorothy Mae Feagin, Lurlene Gamble, and Lenison McKenzie
Graveside services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the Power DuRant Cemetery, 1911 Power DuRant Cemetery Rd., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
Memorials may be made to Power DuRant Cemetery, 2210 DuRant Cemetery Rd., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
