Celebration of life for Ruby Lee Baker, 87, of Ferriday will be held at Ambassadors Outreach on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11AM with Pastor Don Lucas (message and eulogy), Pete Johnson (music), Ruth Gray (prayer), and Joseph Hanston (reading) are under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.
Ruby Baker was born on Monday, September 27, 1937 in Ferriday, LA. and passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at Camelot Leisure Living. For over a decade, Ruby poured her heart into the classroom as a dedicated teacher's assistant, shaping young minds with patience and grace in Concordia Parish. Her quiet strength and steady presence made a lasting impact on both students and teachers alike. Ruby's gentle guidance and unwavering support became a cherished part of the educational journey for countless children.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Anderson Lawrence, mother, Lizzie Gardner Lawrence, husband- Winston Baker Jr., 4 brothers, John Lawrence, Charles Raymond Lawrence, Willie Percy Lawrence and Richard Gardner, and a sister, Barbara Howard.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Roger Gardner and his wife Gwyn of Atlanta, GA, 3 sisters, Ethel Gray of Gulfport, MS, Doris Johnson of Ferriday, LA, and Ann Gardner of Ferriday, LA, brother-in-law, Andrew Howard, she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
