Ruby Lay Barnes

Ruby Lay Barnes, 87, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones as they sang her into heaven.

She was a dedicated wife of 66 years to her husband, Carl who preceded her in death on September 19, 2025. She was an outstanding cook and loved quilting. She was a wonderful mother and Mamaw to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.

Besides her husband, Carl she was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucy Kerr Lay and her siblings, Robert Forest Lay, Lillie "Sister" Wise, Wilber Lee " Joe" Lay, Roy Morgan Lay, Mable Jean Wise and Mary Frances Banta.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Carol Kimbrough, Kathy Jamison (Doug), Sandra Humphrey, Carl Barnes, Jr. (Helena), her grandchildren, Kenny Harrod, Brianne Harrod, Douglas Jamison, Matthew Jamison, Amber Coomer, Timothy Warford, Chassidy Warford, Brady Barnes, Kayde Barnes, her 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her sister, Anna Elizabeth Lefler and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Boyd officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made toward the funeral expenses.
