Ruby Bartley

Ruby Irene Clark Bartley, age 94 of Christiansburg, VA passed away on December 27, 2024 in Blacksburg, VA.
She was born in Iuka, Illinois on November 24 1930 the daughter of Herbert and Verta (Cheeley) Clark. She married Leland Joy Bartley on August 12, 1951 in Iuka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2007.
Ruby, Leland and their two sons lived in Germany from 1961-1965. Leland was employed by the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. (DODDS). He was an elementary school principal in the schools for the children of the military. After returning from Germany, he worked at the headquarters for DODDS in Washington D.C. Ruby was a group sales manager at the Hecht Co. in Alexandria, VA for 18 years. They moved back to Illinois in 1983. Ruby moved to Christiansburg, VA in 2010
Ruby was a member of the Woodlawn Church until February of 2011 when she transferred her membership to Calvary United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, VA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Juanita Clark, Naomi Baker, Rosebud Shulz and Wanda Bayles.
She leaves her sons, Dennis Bartley and wife Vanessa of Christiansburg, VA, and Maurice Bartley and wife Barbara of Earlysville, VA; grandchildren, Jason and wife Tracy of Riner VA, Adam of Christiansburg, Elizabeth and husband Matt Poor of Christiansburg, Aaron and wife Sarah of Mananas, VA, Andrew of Christiansburg, Nicholas and wife Elizabeth of Lovingston, VA, Amanda and Peter Ohlms of Charlottesville, VA, Phillip and wife Ashley of Fishersville, VA, Matthew and wife Ranee of Bridgewater, VA, Jesse and wife Brittany of Charlottesville, VA, Angie of FL, Megan of CO, Brandy of Charlottesville, VA, Crystal and husband Wayne Luckado of Earlysville, VA, and Jacob of Earlysville VA; great-grandchildren, Kane and Brooke of Riner VA, Anna and Connor of Christiansburg, Naomi and Asher of Lovingston, VA, Luna and Micah of Charlottesville, VA, Elia of FL, Elijah, Sage and Wilder of Fishersville, VA, Aaron, Ari and Adelat of Charlottesville, VA, and Valerie of Earlysville, VA; nieces and nephews, Colleen Baker of Salem IL, Loretta Geotis and Husband CJ of FL, Pam Sessions and husband Gary of Xenia, IL, Bobette Von Bergen and husband Mel of Hebron, IL, and Gary Shultz and wife Carol of Alden, IL; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Mary wife of deceased Roger Bartley, Delbert Bartley and wife Evelyn of Iuka, IL, and Sherrill Bartley and wife Patsy of Fairfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Ruby Irene Bartley will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Kyle Sessions officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the time of the service. Interment will be in Iuka Cemetery.
