Age 93, of Warsaw, passed away on July 7, 2025 at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
She was born on December 1, 1931, in Batavia, daughter of the late Prentice Huron Fleming and Fava Andrews Fleming Smith. Ruby was an excellent student in school and graduated from Wyoming Central in 1948 at the age of sixteen. She would go on to work many jobs at numerous places over the years, namely the Warsaw knitting mill, Big M Supermarket, the Glen Iris, the A+P in Warsaw and most recently Wal-Mart. Ruby was also a 4-H leader for ten years. She liked to read, crochet, knit, take walks, and ride horses. Especially her horse Billy. Ruby was a seamstress and enjoyed completing crossword and picture puzzles. She also loved gardening, square dancing and baking. She was famous for her homemade bread.
Along with her parents, Ruby is predeceased by her husband, Robert Blakeslee, who passed in 2007; her sister, Ruth Stothers and her brother-in-law, Gerald Stothers; and two grandchildren, Bobby Blakeslee and Brian Wallace.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Dwight) Wallace of Warsaw; her sons, Randy (Kathy) Blakeslee of Wyoming, Jeff (Cindy) Blakeslee of Myerstown, PA, and Jonathon (Paulette) Blakeslee of Pittsburg, OK; her sister, Ellen Waite of Virginia; her grandchildren, Dan (Wendy), James, Jenny (Rich), Sandy (Jason), Jason (Kelly), Lucas (Kelly), Chris, Bonnie (Thomas), Sherri (Trevor), Gregory, Tiffany (Jonathan); 36 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 1-3 PM at Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Ruby’s memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 3 PM. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ruby’s memory to the Warsaw Public Library,130 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the Wyoming County Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, 400 N. Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
