Ruby Bray

Celebration of Life Services for Ruby will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church of Ada, Pastor Chuck Neal will officiate.
Ruby Maude Kelly Bray was born in Ada, Oklahoma on October 26, 1965, to Clarence and Leer Kelly. She grew up with them in the country, chasing chickens and playing in the water hose, dragging her little sisters along the way. She built her life, with her kids and husband, right across the pasture so they could also know the joys of grass under bare feet, fresh sunshine, and room to run.
As a sister, she was her sister's rock, her partner in mischief for the sheer joy of laughter, and her steadfast protector through life's ups and downs.
As a wife, she was her husband's go-to person for support and love, always there to back his woodworking projects. She was a true partner in life, making everything better just by being herself.
As a mother, she was always there to celebrate her children's highs, and to offer consolation during the lows, her dedication unwavering. She answered their calls at all times of the day and was able to help them through anything.
As a Gamma, she was a daily part of Oliver and Theo's lives, spending most of her evenings on the porch and watching them grow. She was their biggest advocate, indulging their whims while helping them take their first steps. She not only steadied their feet but also encouraged their individuality to help them take flight and she loved them with everything she had.
As a teacher, she became a lasting influence on countless young lives, both within and beyond the walls of Ada High School, over the course of 37 years. Her commitment to her students didn't end at graduation or with the achievement of a GED. She was a fixture at their wrestling matches, rodeos, and weddings, always eager to celebrate their milestones. She delighted in watching their children grow, their careers grow, and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Whenever she was out and about, it was common for former students to approach her with updates on their lives. Each time, her face would light up with pride, and she'd tell them how proud she was of their accomplishments.
While she leaves behind her husband, Delton, two sisters, Lillie Ella and Debra, her sons, Matthew and Michael, her daughter, Makayla, and two grandsons, Oliver and Theo, she will be joining her parents in heaven. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy lives on in the students she taught, the teachers she worked with, the family she loved, and the community she helped shape. She was a rock for all of us, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to a scholarship fund (send to Ada City Schools for Ruby Bray Scholarship fund) or a donation to Ada Special Olympics.
