Ruby Mae "Dukes" Carriee was the daughter of the late Ruben and Hattie "Camp" Dukes. She transitioned from her earthly home on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Piedmont Augusta Hospital. She resided in North Augusta but spent her last seven years at NHC (National Healthcare Center) in North Augusta, SC. Ruby was educated in Baltimore Maryland Public Schools. She later attended Aiken Technical College earning a diploma in Early Childhood Development. She worked at Graniteville Company, Vaucluse Division for over 18 years. She then worked at Prime Time YMCA as a Director before completely retiring to become a Caregiver for her late husband, John L. Carriee. She was a strong advocate for ECCHO - Edgefield County Community Churches Helping Others. Ruby formed a coalition to build a high school in the Merriwether District which developed into the Fox Creek Charter School. She became a member of Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in 1989, formerly a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Williston, SC. She was married to the late John L. Carriee, to this union one child was born, Cledyth Cassandra Carriee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, while leaving to cherish her memories her daughter, Cledyth (Larry) McCray of North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren, Eric Carriee and Rashada James, both of North Augusta, SC; four great-grandchildren, Malik James, Adrian McWilliams, Roosevelt Walker IV, and Antonio "AJ" Walker, all of North Augusta, SC; two great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Rosa Brown, Valorie Brown, and Brenda (Willie James) Story, all of Aiken, SC; one nephew, George K. Smith, Aiken, SC; one Godchild, Shikina Garvin, Aiken, SC; a host of other relatives, bonus grandchildren and extended family.
