Linda Hancock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Springs Funeral Services-North - Austin Bluffs on Dec. 26, 2023.
Obituary of Linda Louise Hancock
Linda Louise Hancock of Colorado Springs, Colorado, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at Legend of Colorado Springs after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Miami, Florida on September 29th, 1945 to P.T. (Pete) and Lucy Garrett.
Upon her graduation from North Miami High School in 1963, she entered the moving and storage industry at May's Allied Van Lines where she soon met Ronnie, her lifelong love and husband of nearly sixty years.
An accomplished student, she turned down multiple scholarships to attend higher education, instead deciding to marry and tirelessly pour herself into her family and vocation serving for decades as an accomplished educator and administrator in Dade County, Florida; working alongside Ronnie at their Mayflower agency, Hancock Moving and Storage; and finally on the chaplaincy staff at Doctor's Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida.
Throughout these 50+ years of vocation, she touched countless lives with her infectious laughter, her loving care, and her selfless service. This character was drawn from a deep and abiding faith.
She demonstrated great joy in worshipping with her booming alto voice alongside her lifelong friends in the choirs of Stanton Memorial North Shore, Wayside, and Vista Grande Baptist Churches.
An avid sports fan, she especially loved her Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins, and Miami Heat and spent decades alongside Ronnie and Tommy at thousands of football, baseball, and basketball games. But most of all, Linda was a devoted and loving wife and daughter, a tender mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose singular desire was to serve and bless her family and friends. They were her wellspring of happiness and pride, and she was their ever present, emotional bedrock. Her absolute fearless faith and ceaseless prayer, unshakeable resolve, and unconditional love, are a witness to us all and will forever be missed.
Linda is preceded in death by her mother and father P.T. and Lucy Garrett; husband, Ronnie; brother-in-law, George; and is survived by her sisters, Bettye and Debbie and her husband Dan; son, Tom and his wife, Daire; grandsons, Justin, Blake and his wife Brianna; granddaughters, Brooke and Lauren; great-grandson, Benjamin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in Linda's honor to Samaritan's Purse International Relief at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/ a charity which Linda and Ronnie long supported.
Visitation will be held with the Hancock family from 2:30PM-3:30PM, Friday, December 29, 2023, with a memorial service to follow from 3:30PM-4:30PM, The Springs Funeral Services-North, 4310 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.
