Ruby Kirchhoff Coates
Ruby Kirchhoff Coates, age 86, of Glenwood, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2009.
She was the daughter of Edwin Kirchhoff, Sr. and Hattie Heinen Kirchhoff. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Leroy Kirchhoff, Edwin Kirchhoff, Jr. and Fred Kirchhoff.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Don Coates of Glenwood; her sister, Florence Corb of California; and numerous nieces and nephews, Fred, Jr., Edward, Keith, Kathy, Karen, Gary, Jeanine and Steven.
Ruby loved children; she worked in nursery schools while Don was serving in the U.S. Navy. She taught Sunday School in church and organized a 4-H club in Montgomery County that won many prizes for their work.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2010, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Tommy Adams officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Fred Kirchhoff, Jr., Edward Kirchhoff, Fred Kirchhoff, III, Craig Kirchhoff, Keith Kirchhoff and Steven Kirchhoff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Divers and Dr. Matthew Hulsey.

What a wonderful lady! I always thought she could do anything.
She was so good to my grandparents, Robert and Elsie, and they thought the world of her. It was always a pleasure to visit with her. She will be greatly missed. Don, you will be in my prayers.

Mr. Don, so of my best memories of my childhood was the 4-H club with you and Mrs. Ruby teaching me to sow and just being my friend. She taught all of us a lot about respect, and how to be a friend. I loved her dearly. I love you dearly.
