Ruby Coleen Strader Chrismon, 84, of Browns Summit passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday February 24, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 3:00 PM. with Rev. Mike Chrismon, Dr. Terry Lawson and Rev. Randall Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. A graveside committal will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday before the service at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Coleen was born in Rockingham County to the late Gordon Lee Strader and Thelma Gauldin Strader. She attended Osceola Baptist Church. She loved working in the yard mowing and gardening. She was a good cook and a fantastic baker. She also enjoyed fishing and visiting the beach. She was a wonderful well-respected mother. Most of all she loved her family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Carlton “Jimmy” Strader and wife, Nannie Robertson Strader; Linwood Franklin “ Dickie” Strader and wife, Mildred Stump Strader; and sister, Nancy Strader Page and husbands, G. Lillard Page and Russel D. Wilson.
Coleen is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Ray Allen Chrismon; children, Michael “Mike” Ray Chrismon and wife, Lisa Shelton Chrismon, Debbie Chrismon Blackburn and husband, Gene Maurice “Moe” Blackburn II, Keith Allen Chrismon and Darryl Ray Chrismon and wife, Lucky King Chrismon; 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother, Jackie Gordon Strader and wife, Vera Strader as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends
