Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Kettering ChapelRuby J. Collins, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 30, 1941, in Somerset, Kentucky, Ruby was a radiant presence in the lives of her family and friends, whose warmth and love touched everyone around her.
Ruby was dedicated to her family, who were her entire world. She is survived by her children, Randall (Cindy) Collins, Greg Collins, and Tricia (Jeff) Nation, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke) Collins, Chelsea Collins, McKel Nation, Peyton Nation, and Kailey Nation. Her great-grandson, Crosby Collins, brought her immense joy and pride in her later years. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her brother-in-law, Don McKinney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she enriched with her kindness and spirited nature.
Ruby’s life was marked by her unwavering support for her family, especially at her grandchildren's sporting events, where her enthusiasm and cheers could always be heard. Her proudest accomplishments included nurturing strong bonds with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Arlenia (York) Sears; her sisters, Margaret McKinney, Macie (Chuck) Waggoner, Grace (Dude) Burdine, Lena Mae Cornett, and Ida B. Hensley; and her brothers, John Sears, Lloyd Sears, Charles Sears, Myrph Sears, and Ernest Sears. The loss of these beloved family members weighed heavily on her heart, but their memories continued to inspire her throughout her life.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 12:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 10:00AM until the time of service. Ruby will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Ruby.
