Mrs. Ruby Roberts Cornett, 87, of US 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Charles Curtis “Chuck” Cornett Jr. and his wife, Carol, in LaGrange, Kentucky on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, after battling dementia.
She was born on November 13, 1937 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Esta Roberts.
Ruby was a homemaker, a seamstress for Stephen’s Clothing and a former director of the Dove’s Shelter in Morehead.
Her greatest passion was her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved sewing and refinishing antique furniture, which she was incredibly gifted and talented at. Ruby raised many gardens, with her children in tow, teaching them the fundamentals of life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Charles Cornett, one son, Ricky Lee Cornett, two brothers, George Roberts and Charlie Roberts and one sister, Delores Cornett.
Survivors include three children, Charles “Chuck” Cornett and his wife, Carol of LaGrange, Anita Wells and her husband, William "B" of Hillsboro, Kentucky and Tina Moore and her husband, Dewayne of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, Elijah Roberts and Clyde Roberts both of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Billy Roberts of Morehead, one sister, Connie Roberts of Morehead and many nieces and nephews.
At her request, private family services and burial will be conducted at the New Alfrey Cemetery.
The family would like to express their utmost, heartfelt gratitude and love to Ruby’s daughter-in-law, “Nurse Practitioner” Carol Cornett for the genuine compassion and care given to Ruby during her time there. Also, a special thank you to the Hosparus Team of LaGrange for their guidance and care in the last few weeks of her life.
