Ruby Alice Davidson Sisk was welcomed into Jesus' loving arms on March 25, 2025, after a life rich in experience and love. Born in the small community of Melbourne, Arkansas, on March 16, 1922, Ruby's life was a tapestry woven with resilience, grace, and an unwavering smile and spirit that inspired everyone she met.
Ruby is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Edward Sands, Candy and Garth Owens, and Michelle and Kurt Knauth. Her granddaughters Marcia and Seth Kaufman and Marrisa and Yosi Sandler, and grandson Connor Knauth. Her great-grandchildren Micah, Naomi, Remi and Levi Kaufman and Jacob, Nathan, Rafael and Gabriel Sandler. She is preceded in death by her husband, William L. (Bill) Sisk of over 42 years, Colton Knauth, grandson, her parents and siblings.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the St. Frances River. Ruby's early years were marked by a pursuit of education and service. After graduating from Piggott High School in 1940, she moved to St. Louis, working in a small Arms Ordinance plant. The outbreak of World War II saw her dedication to her country deepen as she took on a role in the Pentagon, serving in the Adjutant General's office as a secretary. Her time in Washington D.C. was not only a testament to her patriotic spirit but also a period of growth and independence, sharing an apartment with one of her dearest high school friends.
The post-war era brought Ruby to Austin, Texas, where she settled with her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Howell. As she was working in the City Manager's office, she met William L. (Bill) Sisk, who became her beloved husband. Together, they embraced the love of family and home with their three daughters. In the early 1960s, they began the adventure of entrepreneurship, establishing their own real estate brokerage company. Ruby's professional journey did not end there; she became an instrumental figure in the real estate community, guiding and empowering women as President of the Women's Council in 1980. Her leadership was about empowering others to unlock the potential that lay within them, a gift from God to be nurtured and celebrated.
Ruby's life was a living example of faith in action. For over 45 years, she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs. Her Sunday School class was a family, each member holding a special place in her heart. Her commitment to her faith community was matched by her dedication to the Hill Country Senior Center, where she volunteered for over 35 years. Ruby's presence in the Thrift store was more than just a helping hand; it was a beacon of warmth and kindness.
Nature was Ruby's sanctuary, a place where she felt closest to God. She reveled in the simple wonders of life, from the majesty of the sunset and night sky to the intricate beauty of a blooming flower. Gardening was not just a hobby for Ruby; it was a conversation with God, thanking Him for glorious provision and beauty as she expressed her gratitude and awe.
Ruby's legacy is carried forward by her loving family. She was a matriarch in the truest sense, guiding her daughters Linda, Candy, and Michelle, and nurturing her grandchildren Marcia, Marissa, and Connor, along with her precious great-grandchildren Micah, Naomi, Remi, Levi, Jacob, Nathan, Rafael, and Gabriel. Each of them a reflection of her gentle, faith-filled, and loving generous nature.
To describe Ruby as gentle, faith-filled, and loving only begins to describe the profound impact she had on those around her. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, encouragement and the beauty of a life lived in service to others. Ruby's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit, her teachings, and her love remain as guideposts for all of us who strive to live a life of purpose and passion.
Let us celebrate Ruby not with sorrow, but with the joy and gratitude that she so generously shared with the world. Her story does not end here; it is etched in the lives of those she touched, a narrative of hope, resilience, and unwavering love that continues to echo through the generations. Ruby's life was a masterclass in living authentically and lovingly, and for that, we are all eternally grateful.
