Ruby D. Davis

Ruby D. Davis, a beloved and devoted woman whose life was marked by love, faith, and family, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas. Born on October 13, 1927, in Batesburg, South Carolina.

On October 25, 1946, she married her sweetheart CSM (Ret.) Gerald Davis Sr., in Richard County, South Carolina, where they began their military journey.

Professionally, Ruby dedicated 36 years of her life as a sales associate at Walmart in Junction City, Kansas, where her outgoing and friendly nature made her a cherished presence. Known for her loving and religious disposition, she was a well-spirited woman, always eager to engage with people and build connections.

Ruby’s interests extended beyond family life. An avid reader, she was rarely seen without a book in hand, nurturing a lifelong thirst for knowledge. She was a passionate bingo player and a seasoned casino connoisseur, enjoying the thrilling challenges and camaraderie these hobbies offered. She was also a member of the Retired Enlisted Association.

Family was the cornerstone of Ruby’s existence. She took great pride in her five children, Ruby Y. Davis, George A. Davis, Gregory J. Davis, and Glen W. Davis (husband to Shelley, and Patti wife of Gerald Jr.) and treasured every moment with her grandchildren Marvaleen Davis Galloway, Jason Davis, Holly Davis, Desiree Davis, and Nycholas Davis. Her legacy also lives on through 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense joy to her. Ruby’s family gatherings, especially the Christmas celebrations at grandma’s house and the Fourth of July festivities at Milford Lake, were cherished traditions. She delighted in preparing special desserts, particularly her fruit cake and peanut brittle, whenever her children came to visit, imbuing those moments with love and sweetness.

Her parents, Booker T. and Jessie Dickerson, predeceased her, as did her husband Gerald Davis Sr., who passed away on October 1, 2001, and her son Gerald (Jerry) Davis Jr., who died on July 19, 2019. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson and four siblings: Mary Elizabeth “Nell” Jackson, Everette Dickerson, Nellie Hyler, and Charles Dickerson.

Services to honor Ruby’s life will begin with a visitation on April 14, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, located at 203 N. Washington St. in Junction City, Kansas. Her funeral service will be held on April 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 S. Eisenhower Dr., Junction City, Kansas.

Ruby D. Davis leaves behind a remarkable legacy defined by her unwavering love for her family, her vibrant personality, and her strong faith. Ruby’s enduring spirit and warmth touched the lives of many throughout her 98 years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and fondly remembered for the generous and spirited life she led.
