Ruby Murphy Davis

Ruby Catherine Davis, age 80, left this earth on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to meet her Lord and Savior in Heaven. She was the daughter of the late Bronson and Pearl Murphy. Ruby was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Vincent Murphy. She was employed at Square D for sixteen years. Ruby was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and a devoted Sunday school teacher for 50 years. She loved to sing in the choir and was a shining inspiration to many. She dearly loved her family, friends, and all the dear ladies in her Ruby Davis class. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ray Davis; a son, Gary Davis and his wife, Marcie, of Bat Cave, two daughters, Carolyn McMahon and her husband, Ed, of Candler, and Christy McPeak and her husband, Owen, of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Tasha (Nickie) Zavalza and her husband, Christian, Joshua McMahon, Caitlin Davis and her husband, Bobby, and Sarah McPeak; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Duvall Funk, and Edward Zavalza; one sister, Ruth White and her husband, Frank, of Candler; and a brother, Paul Murphy and his wife, Leta, of Morganton. Celebration services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Pallbearers will be Dana and Tracy Davis, Joshua McMahon, James Murphy, and Dwight Ward.
