Ruby Davis, 87, of Aster Court, (Maple Acres), Princeton, died early Monday morning, August 13, 2012 at her residence. Born August 14, 1924, in Buchanan County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Monroe & Louise Rife Stewart. Living the majority of her life in West Virginia, Mrs. Davis was a retired cook from Jolo Elementary School. She was a devoted homemaker and mother to her three daughters. She was talented in many areas, but excelled in crocheting beautiful afghans & scarves and being an accomplished cook. Mrs. Davis also loved attending church and singing specials and being in the choir. She also was an avid tea pot collector, having more than 500 tea pots in her collection. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Reece Davis. When he passed away, this was when she started dying. Her body stayed on this earth 9 more years, but her heart left with him. She was also preceded by brothers, Noah & Ferrell; sister, Cora Kelly, Virginia Fife and Linia Muncey, Lucy Daniels and an infant sister, Vinia Stewart. She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Ruth Davis Griffith Roger), and Rita Sneed Justus (Elza) all of Princeton; and Brenda Ronell Potter (Donnie) of Richlands, VA. Six grandchildren, Sandy Griffith Wynn, Susan Sneed White (Mark) and Jeffrey Griffith (Melissa) all of Princeton; Jennifer Stacy (Jerry) of High Point, NC; Sharon Stacy Nelson (Mike) and Karen Stacy Nelson (Richie) all of Richlands, VA. Nine great grandchildren, Michael, Robbie, Christina and James Wynn; Joshua Sneed; Luke & Macy Griffith and Lauren White all of Princeton; Ashley & Austin Stacy of High Point, NC; and Savanna Nelson of Richlands, VA. One sister, Bessie Compton of Paynesville, WV. Also, her two caregivers, Karen Johnson and Patricia Nunley. The precious life of Ruby Davis will be honored at a "going home celebration" at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Eddie Johnson assisted by Pastor Larry Roberts. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday (today) from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
