Ruby Frances Dominguez

Ruby Frances Dominguez (Duran), 95, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at her son Rick's home in Hollister, California.
Born on September 17, 1929, in South San Francisco, California, Ruby moved with her family to Hayward at the age of 10. It was there, on D Street, that she met Richard Dominguez-her childhood neighbor and the love of her life. She often recalled knowing from the start that he would one day be her husband. That certainty became reality in 1951 when they married and built a life together filled with love and devotion. In 1963, they settled in San Jose, with their two sons, Rick and Robert. The home also became a welcoming place for family members transitioning through college and careers.
Ruby attended Hayward High School before embarking on a diverse career path. As a young girl, she worked alongside her father, Jacinto, at the nursery on weekends. She later became a phone operator for Ma Bell before pursuing work as a hairdresser. Eventually, she transitioned into retail sales at Macy's and then Sears, where she spent two decades in Accounting and Human Resources before retiring.
Beyond her professional life, Ruby was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered at the National Cancer Society Thrift Store and was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary for Little League Baseball. A devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Catholic Church in San Jose, her faith was central to her life.
Ruby and Richard shared a love for travel, making cherished memories together over the years. They especially treasured their annual trips to Arizona for Major League Baseball's Spring Training-a tradition they upheld for 21 consecutive years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Rick (Ann Marie) and Robert; grandchildren Kim (Erick) and Rich (Channy); and great-grandchildren Maya, Macie, RJ, and Lia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard; parents Jacinto and Pilar; and siblings Betty, Lupe, Mary, Jess, Carmen, and Joe.
Warm-hearted and generous to all who knew her, Ruby touched many lives with her kindness and unwavering love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
