Ruby Clinton-dowdell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Officer Funeral Home, PC - East Saint Louis on May 8, 2025.
Ruby Clinton-Dowdell, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on April 28, 2025, with
her Bible by her side.
Ruby was born to Ophelia and Casey Clinton on October 6, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was very accomplished, graduating from high school in East Chicago, Indiana,
before earning her Bachelor's degree at a local college. Ruby valued education and
hard work, instilling these qualities in her two daughters, Gidgetta and Bridgetta. In
her career, Ruby was a dedicated employee who spent over 30 years working for the
U.S. Postal Service. She retired in 2009, with dreams of traveling and exploring the
world.
Ruby had a passion for reading and spent much of her early years engrossed in
romance novels, a love of reading she passed on to her children. More importantly, she
deeply loved the Lord and ensured her family and friends knew Him too.
In addition to her professional and personal achievements, Ruby was known for her
warm and caring nature. She had a generous heart and was always ready to lend a
helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of
many, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ruby is survived by her children, Gidgetta Wilcher (Anthony), Bridgetta Bullock; her
sister, Luphelia Clinton; her seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, her parents, Ophelia and Casey Clinton; her brothers, Odell
and Anthony Clinton; her oldest granddaughter, Tierra Bardley (who also shared the
same birthday); and son-in-law, James Bullock, Jr. Ruby's nurturing spirit,
unwavering support, and endless love will forever live on in her children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends.
