Ruby Patricia Edge

Ruby Patricia Edge (Kanatzer) passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025. She was born on January 27, 1963, in Miami, Florida, to Patricia Lloyd (Starkey) and Stanley Kanatzer. Ruby grew up in Smyrna, Delaware, and lived in several places throughout her life, including Dover, Frederica, Lewes, and Magnolia.

In her younger years, Ruby was recognized as one of the best waitresses and bartenders in the state. She was beautiful, kind, and friendly, making everyone feel special and comfortable. Ruby was devoted to her two children, whom she loved deeply and spoke of with pride, always saying they were the greatest gifts God could have given her.

Ruby married Dale Edge on October 11, 1992. Though their marriage ended in 2005, they remained close friends until Dale's passing in 2012. Ruby later found love and companionship with her partner, Dean Hurd, and remained with him until her passing.

Known for her generosity, Ruby was the kind of person who would truly give you the shirt off her back. She had an enormous heart and was always eager to help others, often going without herself to make it happen. Ruby was also a passionate animal lover, welcoming animals of all types into her life, forming magical connections with each.

Her loss leaves an incredible void in many lives that will be impossible to fill.

Ruby is survived by her mother, Patricia Lloyd of Camden, Delaware; her brother, Raughley Lloyd, and his significant other, Patti Updyke, of Hartley, Delaware; ;her brother Ronald Lloyd and his wife Theresa Lloyd; her niece and nephews, Emma Lloyd, Dalen Howard, and Noah Howard, of Frederica, Delaware; her aunt, Lois Williams (Starkey), of Dover, Delaware; her partner, Dean Hurd, and his daughter, Mary Jester, of Magnolia, Delaware; her son, Charles Sinclair, his wife Amanda Sinclair, and their children, Mackenzie and Maddox, of Felton, Delaware; her daughter, Jenny Edge, her fiancé Christopher Brown, and their daughter, Aubrey, of Milton, Delaware; her bonus sons, Eric Edge and his wife Renee Edge, of Slaughter Beach, Delaware, and their daughter Erin Chisenhall, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; and Dennis Edge and bonus grandsons Dustin and Dennis Edge Jr., of Houston, Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Earl Lloyd; her ex-husband, Dale Edge; her grandmother, Virginia Starkey; and her cousin, Patricia Clelland-all of whom she never stopped missing and telling stories about.

A memorial service will be held to honor Ruby's memory at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Delaware on December 27th, 2025, at 12 noon, with a gathering for family and friends starting at 11am.
