Ruby M. Edgerly, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully departed this life on October 24, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. Born on February 15, 1931, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Ruby was a beacon of love and strength whose legacy will endure through the lives she touched.
Throughout her life, Ruby dedicated herself to the service of others, spending many years as a cafeteria worker for East Chambers Independent School District. Her kindness and caring nature extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of the Port Neches Senior Citizens Group and Hillcrest Baptist Church, bringing joy and a sense of community to those around her. Ruby's engaging spirit shone brightly as she participated in the Square Dance club and cherished the art of quilting and cooking, skills that delighted her family and friends throughout her life. Ruby and Arnold shared a sense of adventure as they travelled throughout the United States in their RV.
Ruby was not only known for her remarkable talents but also for her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her beloved son, Keith Edgerly and his wife, Lucille, of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; daughter, Ellen Messick and her husband, Ronald, of Nederland; daughter, Rebecca Warner and her husband, Randy, of Port Neches; son, Brian Edgerly of Port Neches; and son, Eddie Edgerly and his wife, Tina, of Port Arthur. Ruby's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Deedra King and her husband, David; Sarah Elmore; Jason Warner and his wife, Leslie; Michael Messick and his fiancée, Haley Rothwell; Matthew Messick; Brandon Warner; Bradley Edgerly and his wife, Tracie; Lauren Root and her husband, Rickey; Jessica Salazar and her husband, Marcus; Aliciea Morgan and her fiancée, James Kelly; Amber Hicks and her husband, Steve; Andrew Edgerly and his wife, Stormie; Meagan Ward and her husband, Chance; and Ed Edgerly and his fiance', Jacqueline. Additionally, she leaves behind twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry her spirit forward.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Arnold Lawrence Edgerly, whose memory remains a cherished part of her life's story. She also mourned the loss of her brothers, Jackie Landry and C.J. Landry. Ruby is survived by her beloved sister, Betty Nezat and her husband, James, and her brother, Carroll Landry, along with several nieces and nephews who fondly remember their times spent with her.
In her later years, Ruby fought valiantly as a breast cancer survivor, embodying resilience and determination. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering support for her family will forever remain in their hearts. As we remember Ruby M. Edgerly, let us all take a moment to reflect on the laughter, warmth, and unwavering love she so freely gave, a true testament to the incredible woman she was.
A visitation will be held on November 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at10:00 a.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. Ruby’s final resting place will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
