Ruby Elrod, 78, of Easley, loving wife of George Elrod, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at her home.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Margie Rena George. Throughout her life, she treasured simple moments with family and friends. Ruby was always happiest when she was gathered around those she loved most. Ruby had a passion for camping at Ocean Lakes and always looked forward to going to the Pigeon Forge Rod Run as well. She also could be found at the Racetrack supporting her grandson. Above all else, nothing brought Ruby more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life. Her love for them knew no bounds. She adored watching them grow up into their own individualism and create lifelong memories that would be cherished. In early 1998 Ruby and George entered into their forever church home which led to additional brothers and sisters in Christ becoming lifelong family members. If you couldn’t find Ruby at home or on vacation with family, you could find her at church enjoying fellowship.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by three children, John George, Lara Blodgett (Jason), and Rena Tate (Jamie); one brother, Daniel George; one sister, Doris Shipman (Raymond); five grandchildren, Shaye Watford (Steve), Brittanie George, Ally Blodgett, Magnum Tate, and Cruz Tate; and eight great-grandchildren, Aden, Cyrus, Chandler, Ryleigh, Remington, Ryder, Gracie, and Sawyer.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy George and Billy George.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 1832 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
