Ruby Irene Forbes, a longtime resident of Macclenny, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was 96 years old. Ruby was born in Altona, Illinois on October 2, 1928 to Mr. Alvie L and Grace Alma (Courtney) Tisor. She would eventually settle in Jacksonville with the love of her life, William A. “Bill” Forbes and for the last fifty years, they lived in Baker County. They spent over seventy five years together, side by side. Ruby enjoyed watching movies and television programs, especially Walker Texas Ranger. She enjoyed nature, bird watching, and tending to their land. She had a love for small dogs and cherished her pet yorkie. She was a longtime member of Cornerstone Methodist Church, but grew up a devout catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, William A. “Bill” Forbes.
She is survived by an adopted son, Randy (Linda) Rafuse of Baker County; seven adopted grandchildren and eleven adopted great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Johnny Forbes, Bobby Forbes, Douglas Forbes, Debbie Forbes, and Mary Forbes; as well as many close friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Manntown Cemetery.
