Ruby Lee Goodman

It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruby Lee Goodman, 73 of Florence who transitioned on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Mrs. Ruby Lee Rose Goodman was born on February 18, 1952, in Lake City, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Paul Lawrence Graham and Ms. Mary Rose Goodman.
Ruby was educated in the Florence School District 3 and was a proud graduate of Lake City High School. A trailblazer and entrepreneur, she was the co-founder and co-owner of Goodman & Goodman Tax Service for over 50 years. She made history as the first Black female to own and operate a tax accountant service in Florence, South Carolina-an accomplishment that inspires generations.
A woman of deep faith, Ruby was a lifelong and devoted member of the Church of Christ, where she faithfully served and worshipped throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and two brothers, Willie Earl Rose and T. Rose.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted husband of 55 years, Dr. J.C. Goodman of the home; four beloved sons: Ronthan "Rock" Butler of Florence, SC; Jimmy Goodman of Florence, SC; Derrick (Nicole) Goodman of Greensboro, NC; and John Paul (Bridgette) Goodman of Hopemills, NC. Her beautiful legacy lives on through her loving grandchildren: Kadija Gee, Alexis Robinson, Jeremiah Goodman, Rah-John Goodman, Kayla Goodman, Aaron Lord, Jonae Goodman, Kadance Goodman, Nehemiah Goodman, Noah Goodman, and Jamia Goodman. She was further blessed with great-grandchildren: Christopher Jhamei, Marquis, MaKynlei, and Rahlyn Grace, who brought her immense joy and pride. She was blessed with three special daughters: Ganesha Goodman, Amanda Goodman, and Sarhonda (Anthony) Wilkes.
Ruby is also survived by her brother, Robert (Debra) Graham of Trussville, AL; two sisters, Bernice Goodman of Tampa, FL, and Margaret Ann (Mark) Lee of Florence, SC; two brothers-in-law, Levander Goodman and Sammie (Debra) Goodman; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia (Benny) Simon, Edell Gamble, and Jacqueline (Elbert) Wright.
She also leaves behind a cherished lifelong friend, Ann King, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
