Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby L. Grant, age 104, of Columbia will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Clyde Fowler officiating and Randy Hatten and Eugene Dunn assisting. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. She will be interred alongside her beloved husband, Woodrow Wilson Grant. The Grant Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Ruby Lee (Cooper) Grant was born on August 21, 1921, at Hico, LA, to the union of her parents, William L. Cooper and Rachel Wright Cooper. She passed from this life on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. Her sweet life encompassed a 104 year journey. All who knew her loved her. For many years she worked at the Columbia Heights Hospital for Dr. Wren Causey and was Supervisor of Laundry at the hospital, before moving to the Columbia Heights Pharmacy. She loved to cook and sew.
Survivors include her son, Garland Grant and wife, Lynn; two daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Grant and Otha Grant; her grandsons, Mike and David Finch, James Grant; great-grandsons, Michael and Christopher Finch, Jim Grant (Anna Claire) and Jon Grant (Tiffaney)her granddaughter: Kristina Finch; great-grand daughters: Emily Reeves and Carrie Little; and her great-great grandchildren: Ellie, Rhett and Cooper, Michael, Natalia, Mason, Clenna, Tyler, Evan, Allison, Penny, David , Jason , Brionna, Naveyah, Teleyah, Emanni, Mason and Xavier. also her beloved friend and sitter for so many years, Tracy Wink, who was more than just a friend, but more like family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Wilson Grant and by two sons, Arlis Grant and Bernard Grant.
Pallbearers include: James Grant, Jim Grant, Jon Grant, Jason Maxwell, Tye Ellerbe and Scott Lovelady. Honorary pallbearers include: Elgin McFadden, Johnny Semmes, Rick Greer and Willis Davis.
The Grant Family would like to extend to the Haven Nursing Center a huge thank you for your goodness to Mom the last fourteen years and also to Dr. Head and staff for the love, compassion and wonderful care you gave.
