Ruby M. Heugatter, 85, of Sheffield Village, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on Saturday October 8, 2022. She was born July 1, 1937 in Ravenswood, West Virginia to parents Ackison and Flossie (nee Archer) Lincicome.
Ruby graduated high school in West Virginia at age 17 and moved out to find her own path and adventure. She made her way north to Ohio where she found work in the factories, eventually spending 25 years with Ford Motor Company before retiring. Ruby enjoyed being a mom and helping her kids with their activities, including tending to horses and attending car races. While her children were in elementary school Ruby would host all their school mates for a last day of school celebration, complete with treats and pony rides.
Ruby was a generous woman who devoted much of her time to helping others. She volunteered as a teacher for her churches Vacation Bible School in the summer and helped host the rummage sale twice a year. She also volunteered for the food bank, hospice, and Meals on Wheels. Ruby was an independent woman who enjoyed maintaining her home, continuing to mow her own lawn even through this past summer.
Ruby is survived by her loving children Douglas Roberts (Kathy), Ed Roberts, Carol Roberts (John) and Barb Sikora (Chris); and numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 20 years Ervin Heugatter; two sons, Daniel Roberts and Don Roberts; and her parents.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday October 13, 2022 from 4:00 - 7:00pm at Busch Funeral Home 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, OH 44012. Funeral service will be Friday October 14, 2022 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Avon. 440.933.3202 www.buschcares.com

I know without a doubt that all those folks that Ruby either greeted, tended to, prayed with and supported in any way while she volunteered at the hospice center, welcomed her into a beautiful, soft place in heaven. Rest well Ruby, you deserve so much peace and joy.
Prayers to all of the family, the world lost a true, rare jewel.
