Ruby Jewell Hicks

Ruby Jewel Hicks, 95, passed away on April 22, 2026.

Ruby was born on December 27, 1930, in Nevada County, to Olevia Honea and Mark Shelton.

Her family will remember her as wonderful mother and a great cook. She spent her days as a homemaker, taking care of her family. Ruby also enjoyed watching the birds, especially red birds and hummingbirds.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Don Hicks.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, John Hicks and his late wife Patricia, Farrell Hicks, and Deborah Wilson and her late husband David; her daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Hicks; four grandchildren, Yolanda Calley and her husband Nick, Sarah Clay and her husband Nick, Brandy Langley and her husband Brian, and Zach Hicks; three great-grandchildren, Cain Calley, Carley Calley, and Emily Clay; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Caney Cemetery, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Prescott.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Enhabit Hospice as well as the staff of The Springs of Hillcrest for their expert care and affection they showed Ruby during her time there.
