Ruby Waller "Reby" Hill

Ruby "Reby" Waller Hill, age 94, of Elizabeth City, entered her heavenly home February 17, 2023. A native of Pasquotank County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lorenza and Annie Louise Jones Waller. She was married to the late William Lonnie Hill. Ruby was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church and the Gideon Auxiliary of Elizabeth City. She retired from Eastern Oil Company as bookkeeper after more than 30 years of service.. She was also known all around the region as "The Cake Lady" because of the numerous cakes that she made, specializing in wedding cakes, anniversary cakes and birthday cakes.
She is survived by her sons, William L. Hill and wife Teresia, Roger W. Hill and wife JoAnn; daughter, Rhonda H. Dozier and husband Frank; sister, Marjorie W. Powell and sister-in-law, Faye Waller; four grandchildren, Jeremy Hill, Lisa Forehand and husband Thad, Lauren Hill Spruill and husband Don, Adam Hill and wife Vhonna, two step-grandchildren, Gayle Sanders and husband Jason Wooddisse, Dale Sanders and wife Amanda; six great grandchildren, Brittany Calderon and husband Andrew, Blair and Blaze Forehand, Emily, Natalie, and Adam Hill, Jr., and Charlotte Spruill; seven step-great grandchildren, Joshua Wisniewski and wife Rebecca, Deborah Wisniewski, Sara Wisniewski, Aubrey and Chase Sanders, Jasmine Midgett, Dustin Spruill; and six step-great great grandchildren, Ryland Lassiter, Avery Wisniewski, Laila, and Lydia and Hudson Wisniewski. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles E. Waller and wife Edith, George A. Waller, brother-in-law, Wade H. Powell, and step-grandson, Tommy Dixon.
The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the caretakers at her home and the staff at The Landings, for their love and care to their mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Riverside Baptist Church, with Reverend Jason Davis officiating. Her final resting place will be in West Lawn Cemetery beside the love of her life, Lonnie. The family will receive friends and relatives at Twiford Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friends will be greeted at the church following the service.
