Ruby Averilla Hilts (Sutten) went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2026 at her home in Marion surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 4, 1935 in Winterfield Township, Marion Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, the love of her life, Robert Deloss Hilts, her son Robert Deloss Hilts, Jr., daughter-in-law Dale Louise Hilts (Timlick). Her parents James Roy Sutten and Anna Marie Sutten (Gaskill), brother-in- law Jerry Sikkema, sister Connie Sneary (Sutten), sister Bonnie Ashby (Sutten), and brother James Sutten.
She is survived by her daughter Georgia Salisbury (Hilts), son-in-law Daniel Salisbury of Marion, Michigan. Her Grandchildren Joshwa Salisbury, Heidi Salisbury (Holmes), Tiffany Nowland (Salisbury), Roger Nowland, Robert Hilts, Jamie Human (Hilts), David Human. Great Grandchildren Brooklynn Kohlhaus (Salisbury), Isaiah Kohlhaus, Elizabeth Weaver (Salisbury), Ian Weaver, Madison Salisbury, Jadon Salisbury, Malia Salisbury (Husted), Seth Salisbury, Josiah Salisbury, Savannah Salisbury, Ryan Nowland, Britianie McFadin (Nowland), Josh McFadin, Kendan Nowland, Isabella Nowland, David Human, Joyce Human, Hunter Human. Great great-grandchildren Violet Weaver, Alabama Kohlhaus, Ryker Nowland, Onyx Nowland, Lillian McFadin, Leland McFadin, and Cooper Human. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Sikkema (Sutten), brother, Albert Ray Sutten, sister-in-law Susie Sutten (Vanas), brother-in-law Ellis Sneary, brother-in-law Jon Ashby, sister-in-law Denise Sutten (Fewless).
Ruby was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother who loved her family deeply. She dedicated her life to caring for them all and embraced the demanding role of family caregiver providing essential support and care to all of her loved ones and community. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 1 at 4:00 PM at Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home in McBain with Pastor Steve Boven officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM; prior to the service. The Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home is handling the arrangements; the online obit can be seen at burkholderfunerals.com.
