Ruby Pearl Karnes, aged 73, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Springfield, MO. Born on November 13, 1951, Ruby spent her life nurturing those around her with warmth and kindness.

Ruby dedicated 23 years of her career as a CDL driving instructor, where she trained countless individuals, imparting not just the skills needed for the road but also the confidence required to navigate it. Prior to becoming an instructor, she drove over-the-road first as part of a team with her husband, and then later solo. Her commitment to her profession was evident in the way she approached each day with enthusiasm and a steadfast dedication to safety and education.

Outside of her professional life, Ruby had a passion for visiting casinos and enjoyed the thrill and excitement of each visit. Her love for her dogs, Sugar and Spice, was unmatched. They brought her immense joy and a sense of companionship.

Ruby was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Gerard Karnes; her father, Orville Thomas Gearhart; and her mother, Mary Maxine (Bunch) Gearhart. She leaves behind her cherished family: her son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Natalie Steinbach; her sisters, Julie Klyn and Maxine Gearhart, both from Iowa. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, remembering her as a pillar of strength and love in their lives.

Ruby's life was one of vibrant engagement with her community and the people she loved. She will be remembered for her resilience, her caring nature, and her ability to make each of her family members feel uniquely loved and supported. Ruby's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her kindness and spirited character.

A family-directed Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date on the family farm.
