Ruby L. King, a radiant spirit and beloved mother, was born on May 4, 1927, in the quaint town of New Summerfield, Texas. A high school graduate of Fredrick Douglas in Jacksonville, Texas, Ruby embraced life with an infectious zest. She cultivated a career as an Administrative Assistant at New Mexico Bank, where her vibrant personality left an indelible mark.
Ruby's warmth and vivacity inspired all who knew her. Described by her daughter, Velma Desha, as a carefree person who adored having a good time, Ruby was the life of every gathering. Memories of her dance moves linger fondly in the hearts of her family, evoking smiles and nostalgia. It was not just her dance that captivated those around her; it was also the love and dedication she infused into her cooking. Her peach cobbler and apple pie were legendary; in the eyes of Velma, no one could match her culinary artistry.
As the sun set on February 5, 2025, Ruby left this world in Dallas, Texas, yet her spirit continues to dance in the hearts of her loved ones. Ruby is survived by her cherished daughter Velma Desha and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry forward her legacy of joy and laughter.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on February 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX. A funeral service will follow on February 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at the Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, where we will celebrate the life of Ruby L. King.
Though she has departed this earthly realm, Ruby L. King's essence remains woven into the fabric of her family's memories, a legacy marked by love, laughter, and the aroma of her famous desserts. As we honor her life, we remember a woman whose light shone brightly, bringing warmth and happiness to all fortunate enough to have known her.
