Ruby Jean Laughbaum, 80, of Milton, Florida passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024.
Ruby was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Julia Ann Sullivan and Jack Beecher Matthews and raised by her mother and Charlie C. Collyer. Ruby lived much of her life in Bucyrus, Ohio, her hometown before moving to Milton, Florida in 1982.
Ruby was a 1963 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She had received her associate's degree in Theology and was a double retiree from General Electric in Bucyrus, Ohio and Vanity Fair in Milton, Florida.
She was loved and adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruby loved God, her family, and working in her yard. Her faith in God was unwavering and inspired many people to the Lord. Ruby adored her husband and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by beloved husband, Jerry Laughbaum of 58 years; all her parents; brothers, Jimmy Collyer and Stephen Matthews; sister, Fairy Jackie Taylor; and two sisters who died at birth.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Curtis) Gifford, Tina (Roger, Sr.) Matthews, Sheila Semmler (Robert Archer, Jr); grandchildren: Karl, Cynthia, and Amanda Gifford, Chelsea (Colton) Westover, Roger (Danielle) Matthews, Jr., Kristina (Jedd) White, Matthew Matthews, Hannah (Blake) Adams, Madeline, Violet, and Vivienne Matthews, Brandon Kelly; and 8 great-grandchildren who meant the world to her. She is also survived by her sisters and one brother, Peggy Simmons, Patsy Stewart, Renee Bell of Ohio, and Clay Matthews of Tennessee and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, with Chaplain Andy McGuire officiating. Burial to follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
