LEE, Mrs. Ruby J. - Age 79, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Majestic Care Flushing, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1610 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Ralphael D. Reed, officiating Pastor Johnnie Edwards, Eulogist. Interment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Lee will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Ruby Jean Lee was born July 16, 1944 to Bernice Whitehead Green Towns and Clifton Allen in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Ruby accepted Christ in her life as a teenager. She graduated from Poplar Bluff Senior High School (1963) in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Ruby moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1966 where she raised her three children. She also lived in Flint, Michigan for approximately two years. Ruby was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and sang in the choir. She was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan for over fifty years until her health declined. Ruby served as a choir member. Ruby enjoyed cooking and baking. Her specialties were cakes, peanut butter cookies and sweet potato pies. She was an entrepreneur, whereas, she sold candy and homemade baked items from her home. The neighborhood children were her main customers. She especially enjoyed socializing with family members and friends. Ruby took pleasure in cooking BIG meals for family holiday gatherings, specifically, for out-of-town family members. Ruby Jean Lee leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Byron Lee of Flushing, Michigan and Shaun Lee of Saginaw, Michigan; daughter, Candence Lee Barnett (Dennis) of Flushing, Michigan; six sisters, Dorothy Hunt, Carolyn Towns and Kimberly Towns of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Virginia Holeman of Chicago, Illinois, Teretha Bishop of Glenwood, Illinois and Margaret Dowdy of Calumet City, Illinois; three grandchildren, Kiesha Lee, Jordan Barnett and Tiah Barnett; six great-grandchildren, Kaniyah Lee, Kharter Lee, Kailynn Lee, Derrett Guyton, III, Kaidence Lee and Kasaan Lee; god-children, John Huffman, Gaynell Lipsey Smith and Tomieka Peoples; special friends, Hattie Cannon, Zetty Davis, Geraldine Mills and Essie Ringo, along with a host of nieces (special niece, Bettye Matthews), nephews, cousins and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Whitehead Green Towns; father, Clifton Allen; adopted father, Bennie Higgs; two sisters, Shirley Allen and Linda Green Towns; two brothers, North Bennie Higgs and Billy Green, Senior.
