Ruby Joyce Long

Ruby Joyce Long, 85, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 2:00 AM, Sunday, April 19, 2026, at her home in Hannibal, MO.

Funeral Services will be at 5:30 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2026, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Tom Carpenter will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Arrangements for cremation will follow the service.

Ruby was born September 28, 1940, in Hannibal, MO to Paul Joseph Schultz and Opal Withrow Schultz.

Survivors include her three children, Jerry Long, Paula Baker (Steven), and Steven Long; one brother, Robert Schultz; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Charles, Larry, Judy, and Sandy.

Professionally, Ruby worked as the assistant to the Director of the Vocational and Technical School in Hannibal, MO, from which she retired.

Ruby was a devoted reader who loved reading romance, western, and sci-fi novels. She found comfort, adventure, and imagination in the pages of a good book. Ruby also cherished the outdoors and spent much of her time enjoying the beauty of nature. She loved hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. Ruby also enjoyed walking outside, she would regularly walk up to 8 miles a day. In quieter moments, Ruby took great satisfaction in putting together jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, Ruby treasured her family and the moments they spent together.

Ruby was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church. She was also a church volunteer for various committees.
