Wickham Family Funeral Home - CherryvaleRuby May Mansfield, a cherished member of the Cherryvale community, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in Cherryvale, Kansas, at the age of 81.
Ruby was born on August 1, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, Ruby touched many lives through her kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit.
On April 11, 1962, she was united marriage to Floyd "Poogie" Mansfield at Miami, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death April 18,1994
Ruby dedicated a significant part of her life to her career in retail, most notably at Gibsons, TG&Y, Western Publishing, and Pete's Corporation, where she served at Cherryhill Express for an impressive 25 years. Known affectionately as "Ms. Ruby" by many in Cherryvale, she became a beloved figure in the community, warmly welcoming customers and friends alike with her generous nature and a feisty sense of humor.
She was educated in Cherryvale and carried the values instilled in her throughout her lifetime. Ruby's vibrant personality made her a guardian angel for many, always ensuring those around her felt comfortable and cared for. Her love for her family was evident, and she enjoyed spending her time shopping, traveling, and cherishing moments with loved ones.
Ruby is survived by her daughters, Julie Mansfield of Cherryvale, Kansas, and Joy (John) Mora of Texas. She was a proud grandmother to Samantha (Donald) Christeson of Atchison, Kansas, and Zachary and Alyssa Mora of Fort Worth, Texas. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lumbley of Pittsburg, Kansas, Wrylee Goodwin, Jet Tracey, and Gracelyn Tracy of Cherryvale, Kansas, as well as Mya Martinez, Mia Martinez, and Axel Swank of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also remembered by her nephew, Larry Pearson of Nixa, Missouri, and niece, Pam Pearson of Fort Myers, Florida.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Henry William Pearson and Eula G. (Glidewell) Pearson; her husband, Floyd "Poogie" Mansfield; and her beloved sons, Jeffrey and Patrick Mansfield. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew Ruby.
Visitation with family will take place Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 5 - 7 PM at Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
Rosary will be recited 10:00 A.M. Thursday March 12, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Thursday March 12, 2026, with Father Zachary Pinaire celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
As we celebrate Ruby May Mansfield’s life, we honor her legacy as a kind-hearted and feisty spirit who brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her warmth and spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
