Ruby M. McCage, age 86, passed away at her residence in Brownsville, TN on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.  She was born on July 15, 1937, in Greenville, MS, to Charles Howell and Betsy Jane Jenkins Howell.

Ruby was a hard-working woman and a faithful mother and wife. She worked as a cook & waitress through the years. She loved watching TV, especially westerns.  She enjoyed reading books and going fishing. The thing that brought her more joy was cooking for her family and friends. She will long be remembered as a great cook. Through the years, people would come over to her house just to eat her stuffing. An important part of her life was her family. She dearly loved them and cherished the times they could spend together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Howell and Betsy Jane Jenkins Howell; two sons, Robert Howell and George Howell, and one grandson, George McKinney.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold McCage; two sons, Cecil Lloyd McCage and Richard Lee McCage; one daughter, Betsy McCage Allen (Cooter); five grandchildren, Richard McCage, Jr., (Jessica Nichols), Jessica Beatty, Jennifer McCage-Fulbright (Bradley), Kody McKinney (Megan), and Taylor Kendall; six great-grandchildren, Colton Niemeyer, Isaiah Beatty, Jaxx McCage, Jensen McCage, Persephone McCage, and RaeLynn Fulbright.

The family has honored her wishes for cremation. There are no services scheduled at the present time.  All arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN
