Ruby McCall Obituary

Life's Reflections Mrs. Ruby McPherson McCall, 80 years young, was born in 1935 to Mr. George James and Mrs. Alma McPherson Jackson of Florence, South Carolina. After an extended illness, she slipped into eternal rest on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina. "Cooter," as she was affectionately called, grew up in the Mars Bluff Community and attended the Florence County Public Schools. She later moved to Florence, SC. "Cooter" worked as a great homemaker, and worked several domestic jobs outside the home to support her family. She loved to polish her nails, read the Bible, and most of all, she loved to praise God. At an early age, Mother McCall accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Mt. Olive Holiness Church. She was a God–Fearing and praying woman. She was also a dedicated and faithful church member, who loved the Lord, her family, and her church. Mother McCall demonstrated her faithfulness through her service on the Willing Working Choir, Church Missionary and as the Mother of the Church. Ruby was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Lacey Hughes, Sr. and Sammie Joe McCall; two sons, Dennis McPherson and Lacey Hughes; one daughter, Dorothy Hughes McCall; four brothers, Edward Douglas, Wilbur James, Frank James, and Otis Douglas; and two sisters, Joyce Ann Pilgrim and Florence Green. Left to cherish fond and precious memories are: two sons, Billy McPherson of Dallas, TX and David McPherson of Florence, SC; three daughters, Shirley McPherson, Lois Hughes, and Theresa McCall, all of Florence, SC; 13 grandchildren, Joanne, Ricardo, Sharonda (Keino), Derrick, Equisha, LaQuana, LaTasha, Lamont, April, Ava, Alicia (Sammie), Kamoni and Schyler, which she loved dearly; 18 great grandchildren; three brothers, Johnny Douglas, Wilson (Margaret) James, and Cleveland James, all of Florence, SC; seven sisters, Augie (George) Brockington, Catherine Briggs, Janice (Dennis) McPherson, Gloria Robinson, Angela Smith, Frances Dicker, all of Florence, SC, and Jackie (Nathan) Isaac of Atlanta, GA; a special daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn McPherson of Fayetteville, NC; and son in law, John McCall of Florence, SC; three sisters-in-law, Elouise James, Sarah Douglas, and Cornelia Davis, all of Florence, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
