Ruby Milnes Obituary

Published by Reed Funeral Home on Apr. 18, 2009.
Ruby H. Milnes, age 84, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday morning, April 18, 2009, while visiting with son and family after an extended illness. She was born in Canton, Ohio, on November 1, 1924, to the late Andrew (DeFilippo) and Florence (McCoy) Ross. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Arthur Milnes; sons, Arthur Jr. and Forrest; daughters, Dorothy Medure and Diane Marie Karolyi; and all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons, Dale (Fatima) Milnes of Canton and David (Sharon) Milnes of North Canton; daughters, Valerie (Terry) Braden of Canton, Cathy Haren Luther (Mark) of Louisville, Tonya Hills of Louisville, Nancy Hoffarth of Troy, New York and Judy Mores of Arlington, Washington; grandchildren, Zachary, Steven, Lance, Desi, Monique, David, Sabrina, Camelia, Rose, Michele, Nicole, Jason, Jennifer, Matthew, Tiffany, Bryan, Stephanie, Blake and Aaron; and many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ruby's life was exemplified by love of family, faith in God and an irrepressible spirit, all of which sustained her through an indescribably difficult life. Her name was merely a symbol of the rare gem she was to all she loved and who loved her. She was, for want of a better phrase, "the last of the Mohicans". It was most appreciated that Father Milton at Mercy Medical Center prayed with us for our mother. May God have mercy on her blessed soul. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 1pm in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 11am-1pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please share with someone in need a kind word, some gift of mercy, some time from your day, in short - some act or gesture of love. Memorial donations may also be made to St. John's Villa (701 Crest St., Carrollton, OH 44615) or the charity of your choice. Those wishing to send their condolences or share a fond memory may sign the Reed Online Guestbook at www.reedfuneralhome.com.
