Ruby Minix

Ruby Minix, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Hamilton Grove Healthcare in New Carlisle following a lengthy illness. She was 87 years old.
Ruby was born on June 30, 1937, in Salyersville, Kentucky, to the late William Allen Sr. and Minnie Allen. She spent most of her life in the Walkerton area, where she built a legacy rooted in family, hard work, and kindness.
Ruby retired from Kingsley Furniture in LaPorte, where she worked as a trainer, and later shared her love of cooking as a dedicated cook at the Hi-De-Ho Truckstop and Oregon-Davis Elementary School. But beyond her professional life, Ruby was known far and wide for her famous Sunday breakfasts-a tradition that brought family together and warmed hearts with every bite.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Ruby's nurturing spirit, gentle strength, and unwavering love were the cornerstones of her home. She found peace in the simple pleasures of gardening and in the company of those she loved most.
Ruby was previously married to the late Addie Minix. From that marriage a loving family began. She is survived by her children: Dinah (Rick) Raab, Clayton (Brenda) Minix, Doyle (Patti) Minix, and Terry (Cheryl) Minix. She also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Bill Frazier, Brian (Melissa) Minix, Brandon Frazier, Andrea (Seth) Hoppe, Betsy Minix, Aubrey (Ben) Lady, Kelsey Robinson, Gabrielle (Adam) Norem, and Alexandria Minix; 21 great-grandchildren-with two more grandsons on the way; two sisters, Eva Rice and Madge Whickcar; and two brothers, Clifford Allen and William Allen Jr.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Amanda Minix; five sisters: Mildred Bays, Margie Minix, Adgie Allen, Mazie Heister, and Ruth Howard; and four brothers: Grover Allen, Clarence Allen, Cletis (Jack) Allen, and Warren Allen.
Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM CDT on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM CDT, with burial afterward at Grovertown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
Ruby's life was one of quiet strength and boundless love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
