Ruby Gallow Ned, 85, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on September 17, 1940, in Mallet, Louisiana to Steven Gallow and Aline Thibodeaux Gallow.
A devoted woman of faith, Ruby was a founding member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where she served faithfully for many years. She was an active member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #246, Altar Society, Adult Club, and the Bereavement Rosary Team, the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Daughters for 25 years, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a proud member of the Rosary Club and was honored with the Monsignor Irving A. DeBlanc Devotion Award. Ruby enjoyed gardening, cooking, and country living, and loved attending zydeco events with her late husband, Benjamin.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Joseph Kenneth Ned, Albert Stephen Ned, Benjamin Ned Jr., and Synthia Ned-Carrier; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Edward Ned, Sr., and her son, Charles Ned Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 5495 Elliott Road, with Msgr. Jace Eskind serving as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 4321 Lake Street on Saturday from 9:30 until leaving in procession to the church, with a rosary being recited at 12:00 Noon. A repass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Family Life Center, 3939 Kingston Street immediately following the interment.
