Ruby Oates Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Oct. 22, 2024.
Ruby Jane Oates, a woman who embodied love and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at The Parks Senior Living in Odessa, Texas. Born on January 13, 1941, in Baird, Texas, Ruby's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her family, an enduring love for the great outdoors, and a heart that knew no bounds when it came to caring for others.
Ruby is survived by a family that was her pride and joy. Her devoted husband, Clinton Oates, stood by her side in a marriage that was a testament to love and partnership. Together they raised a family that included their children Tracy (Mark) Rice, Kim Crume, Melanie Garrett, and David (Christy) Oates. Each child was a reflection of Ruby's loving spirit and nurturing heart. Her sister, Sharon Edwards, remains to cherish the bond they shared as siblings.
Ruby's role as a grandmother was one she embraced with every fiber of her being. Her grandchildren, Keeli (Cody) King, Hunter (Karlee) Crume, Nathan Oates, and Gavin Garrett, were her pride and joy. The addition of her great-grandchildren, Paisley Vaughn and Blake King, only multiplied the love she had to give. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and Wilford McGough, her siblings, Judy McGough and Mona Greeson, and her son-in-law, Tommy Crume, each of whom left a space in her heart that she carried with grace.
Ruby's love for her family was paralleled only by her passion for the outdoors. She was happiest with a fishing rod in hand, surrounded by the beauty of nature, and the sound of laughter from her loved ones. Her selfless nature meant that even on these excursions, she was always more concerned with ensuring everyone else's comfort and enjoyment than her own.
Those who knew Ruby would describe her as the embodiment of love and kindness. She was a woman who put others before herself, not out of obligation, but because caring for those around her was as natural to her as breathing. Her selfless acts, both big and small, touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ruby's legacy is one that will be carried forward by those who loved her most. Her lessons of compassion, her spirit of generosity, and her unwavering support have left an indelible mark on her family and community.
Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences may be sent online to the family at acreswestfuneral.com.

I remember Sister Jane Ruby Oates when I came here 2008 in United States the First time from the Philippines. She always brought me to the ministry with her. She gives me a ride and gives me some delicious banana bread that comes out from her oven. Of all Banana Bread that I've tasted her has the most excellent taste that I've ever experienced. Before I knew her as a very kind and caring person. But when she passed away I feel very sad. I cried while I was reminiscing our memories together. I felt JEHOVAH GOD through Christ Jesus our Lord His loving Son is very kind to me through Sister Jane Oates. All the things she did to me was like a Real mom to me. My mom was born in October 1941 she already passed away in this old system of things. She has the same year born 1941 too. I cried for her like my most valuable mom I've ever had .
