Joan Peak, age 90, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Monday, January 12, 2026 at her home. Joan was born May 8, 1935 to Paul E. Yarick and Ruby of Butler, MO.
After graduating from high school, she worked at Commerce Bank in Kansas City, MO. Joan married Gene Peak on September 24, 1955. A little over a year later, Gene enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 28, 1956. Joan was an Air Force spouse for 4 years, 8 months and 28 days.
After Gene discharged, Joan & Gene moved to Kansas City, KS where they joined South Park Methodist Church which merged with Brown Road which then became Bristol Hill UMC. Joan worked as the church secretary for many years. She then became the Bristol Hill Mother's Day Out teacher for 2 year olds. She worked there until her retirement in 1990. Joan was the Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel #45 Prairie Village. She was an active member of Bristol Hill UMC for over 60 years and alumni of NOMADS.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gene; her granddaughter Kaitlynn Kamm and her grandson Jacob Peak. Survivors include three children, Rebecca L. (Gary) Robinett, Michael E. (Teresa) Peak and Patricia J. (David) Burger; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Earl) Grandstaff, Melisa (Will) Steffan, Geriad Robinett, Jennifer (Ashley) Sewell, Morgan Fletchall, Brenndan Deffendall, Olivia Santoyo three great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kalynn and Jacob, Gus and Gigi; great-great granddaughter Paisley.
The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Bristol Hill United Methodist Church in Kansas City, KS. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 AM, with a luncheon to follow at 11:30 AM.
The family has requested that In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association in Joan & Gene Peak name.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
