Salt Lake City, Utahâ€"Elaine Hurd successfully completed her earthly journey, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. A tearful, temporary farewell is felt as she departs this life to be joyfully reunited with her parents, Vernon and Annie Searle, brothers Boyd and Duane, sister Edith LeBeau, and granddaughter, Charity Hurd.
Elaine was born on April 12th, 1933, in Maeser, Utah (near Vernal). After moving to Salt Lake City, she graduated from South High School. She married Morgan Hurd in the Salt Lake Temple June 12th, 1958, and successfully raised five children. Elaine is survived by her husband, Morgan, and their children: Charles (Susan), Clark (Kaylene), Scott (Becky), Melanie Goldmund (Karl-Heinz), and Marinda; also ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Elaine was blessed with many wonderful people in her neighborhood and ward. We gratefully thank the members of the ward, especially the Relief Society sisters who helped Marinda care for her and Morgan during the last months of her life.
We invite you to the viewing and funeral services. Viewings are from 6-8 pm Tuesday, September 6th, and from 10-10:45 am Wednesday, September 7th prior to the funeral, at the First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1078 S. McClelland St. in Salt Lake City. Parking is on 1000 East. The funeral service is at 11 am Wednesday. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dear Hurd Family:
Please accept my deepest condolences in the passing of your lovely wife and mother! She was a great friend, swimming buddy and therapist, etc. We always got hungry swimming for two hours. We asked each other what we were having for dinner. She always said "Added Upon" which meant leftovers! She is being "Added Upon" now! Will miss her! She was so proud of her family!
