Ruby Louise Rollins, age 97, of Waverly, TN, passed away on August 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 30, 1927, in Hurricane Mills, TN to the late Lena Ann Forrester Mangrum and Melvin Rollins. Ruby's life was a testament to resilience and unconditional love. Despite the challenges she faced as a deaf and mute mother, Ruby's spirit was unwavering. Her life revolved around her daughter, Lisa, and she took great pride in being a devoted mother, demonstrating that love knows no bounds. Ruby's accomplishments were profound; she not only defied the odds stacked against her but also enriched the lives of those around her through her remarkable strength and compassion. Ruby found joy in many activities; she cherished spending precious time with her family, and her gifts extended to crafting beautiful crocheted doilies and solving puzzles. An avid collector of baby dolls, her home was a vibrant reflection of her passions. Ruby was passionate about educating young minds as well; she dedicated time to teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to children, ensuring that communication transcended spoken words. Additionally, Ruby was a member at Waverly First Baptist Church she found solace and inspiration in reading her Bible, which guided her throughout her life. Ruby's legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her dearly.
Left to cherish Ruby's memory is her daughter, Lisa Rollins Stacey; granddaughters, Melinda Diviney and Marika Stacey; great-granddaughter, MaKynah Diviney; sisters, Shirley Lee and Linda Rollins Burton; brothers, James Rollins and Jason Rollins; nephews, Zac White and Ethan White; nieces, Mildred White, Jennifer Lee, Juanita Lee, Angela Elliott and Caitlin Allen; special friends, Kathleen Hickerson, Kelly Kent, Lori Melton and Penny Roberson. Ms. Ruby is also survived by several great nephews and nieces, extended family and many friends.
Along with her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her son, Jackie Lynn Rollins; siblings, Vonnie Rollins, Paul Rollins, Mary Lou Lee, Bobby Dean Rollins, Charles Rollins, Tony Rollins, Mary Nell Younger, Sarah Rollins and Lottie Rollins Lee; son-in-law, Donnie Stacey; nephews, Larry White and Gary Freels; and special best friend, Norma Anderson.
In honoring Ruby's legacy, family and friends will be able to pay their respects at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly. A visitation will take place on August 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on August 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Officating the service will be Bro. Kenny Mullinax and Bro. Sandy Roberson. The burial will follow at Taylor Town Cemetery in Hurricane Mills, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in honor of Ms. Ruby.
