Ruby Shook

Ruby Marie Garrett Shook, 93 of Blue Rock, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at the Beckett House in New Concord.
Ruby was born in Morgan County, Ohio on January 26, 1930. She is the daughter of the late Sidney A. and Emma L. (Darringer) Garrett. She was the first person hired at the Ohio Power Plant in Philo, and she worked there for several years. She also worked for Colonial Flower Shop in Duncan Falls and as the office secretary for Muskingum County Clerk of Courts for many years. She was a member of Solomon Lutheran Church in McConnelsville, Ohio.
Ruby was an active and involved person who enjoyed traveling and helping others. Whether it was volunteering for Lutheran Social Services, tutoring for adult literacy, being a voting poll worker, playing piano and organ for her church, teaching Sunday school, sewing dance and Sweet Adelines costumes, a 30 year member of Sweet Adelines, participating in garden club, or attending events of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ruby enjoyed life. She was so grateful that she lived long enough to watch her great grandchildren grow up.
Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Rondah Wilson and Patricia (Bill) Schlosser; her grandchildren, Erin (Jim) Beane, Jessica Wilson and Lindsey Schlosser; her great grandchildren, Cambria and Hannah Beane, Sydney, Adam and Olivia Perrin, and Max Gardner.
In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Richard Shook; her son-in-law, Howard Wilson; her brothers, Charles Garrett and Jim Garrett; and her sisters, Vivian Richardson and Carma Kalb.
Visitation will be 2 to 6 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls.
Funeral services will be 1 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Solomon Lutheran Church, 7514 West State Route 669 N.W., McConnelsville, Ohio 43756. David Couch will officiate the service. Ruby will be laid to rest beside her husband in Dutch Hill Cemetery.
